Apple crumb pie

(one stick) butter, cold and cubed or grated
Filling

MacIntosh apples, peeled and sliced

Instructions
Preheat oven to 450º.
Topping
Combine topping ingredients. Use a fork or yourhands to quickly mix in the butter until it is the consistency of small peas.
Set aside.
Filling
Mix the apples, flour, and spices. Heap into a pie plate containing the bottom crust.
Pile the crumb topping on. You might have to use your hands to keep it on the pie.
Bake
Bake at 450º for 15 min.
Reduce heat to 350º.
Cut a piece of aluminum foil slighlty larger than the pie. Loosely tent the pie with the foil.
Bake 50 minutes or until the apples are soft. Test by how easily a butter knife goes through the apples.
Notes
Place a cookie sheet on the shelf below the pie to catch drips and save on clean-up time.
