I’m Sheryl, a retired mom and grandma who has lived long enough and made enough mistakes that I’ve found ways to make life easier—ways I am happy to share with you.
I live in Vermont and lead a pretty simple but very busy life, trying to incorporate self-sufficient tactics when I can.
I’m the home budget agent, organizer, and manager. We have a vegetable garden, but flowers are my passion. We have a dog, cat, 7 hens, one rooster, and 3 drakes—the sexing of hatchlings was not very accurate last year : ^ (
We’ve had guinea hens, turkeys, goats, guinea pigs, lizards, and probably more critters than I can remember.
We live in a pre-Civil War cape whose historical value and story we try to maintain. We heat with wood and have many oil lamps for those times we lose power. There is water, canned goods, and a stocked freezer in the cellar.
I love family time, cooking, gardening, crafting, sewing, and saving money. I’ve had many science-related jobs from working in labs to writing blog posts for health sites, taking complicated scientific info, digesting it and rewording it for lay people. It’s my mission to get valid, supported scientific info to people so they can take action to make their lives healthier.
I work as a proofreader—yes, for real—of scientific papers and have run a successful online store and many micro-blog affiliate sites.
So, you can see that I have lots of experience I can use as resources and advice for my blog posts and ways to help people find ways to make their life simpler.
I hope you comment on any post that moves you. And please leave suggestions for any blog posts, tips, or recipes you’d like to see.
Thanks so much for visiting!
